Stefanie Schneider is a German-born artist based in Los Angeles and Berlin, working in both photography and videography. She embraces the raw qualities of Polaroid pictures that capture a dreamlike atmosphere.
Building on the quality of her work, the goal was to create a book that invites readers to delve deeper than simply flipping through a publication, allowing the book to feel more like an immersive experience.
Infused with the impulsiveness of her work, the approach was to capture her full artistic process. Taking inspiration from the imperfections that add character to each image and the unpredictable beauty of a Polaroid photograph.
The final design takes shape as a book and box that directly reference Polaroid. The cover and box mimic the look and proportions of a Polaroid. Even to the small details, like the handle. This reinforces the connection to Schneider’s main medium. Inside, each image never touches the edges, replicating the signature border of a Polaroid. The layout creates a balance of space, enhancing the impact of her work.
This project is an homage to the fleeting moments we usually capture in an instant, often without a second thought. Yet, before we know it, we find ourselves looking back on them, realizing how precious they truly are. I realized that I should be enjoying these small moments as much as I remember.
